Cup of Coffee: Programming Note Day Two
Hello again, all.
Did you see Jo Adell of the Angels pull a Jose Canseco on a TJ Rumfield fly ball last night?
That's a head-doink homer, folks, just like the great Jose did against Cleveland while playing for the Rangers back in 1993. This one made the game 8-0 Colorado in the top of the fourth inning. The Rockies went on to beat the Angels 8-2.
Adell, you may recall, flashed some crazy good defense back in April when he robbed three home runs in one game. This was . . . not that. Adell:
"It's one of those things where how it happened looks crazy. It looks like I've never played in the field before, which is disappointing, because it's beyond the truth, but it is what it is. I'm the only one that really knows what happened. I was out there, and it happened to me, so it is what it is. I've got to just keep going, and as a team, we've got to keep going."
He also went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, so it was certainly not his night.
In less fun news, yesterday was another day spent mostly at the hospital with my mom. She's doing really well, and the talk now is that she'll be out within the next couple of days. She'll probably hit a rehab facility for some amount of time before going home, but that beats the hell out of being in the hospital.
I was with her for most of the late afternoon and early evening and she spent it (a) doing crossword puzzles; (b) watching "Law & Order"; (c) telling "hilarious" stories about stuff from the 1950s that most of us would think of as abuse but which people of her generation call "the good old days"; and (d) quietly grumbling about how they substituted a baked sweet potato for the macaroni and cheese she ordered with her dinner but declining my offer to go complain to someone because "they're busy, I'm sure," so we're more or less back to her usual baseline.
In light of all of that my hope is that there will actually be a proper newsletter tomorrow. At the very least a digest kind of deal, but possibly a regular edition. To be determined, but my mom, my dad, and I all do better with regular routine and structure so we're all gonna jump for it whenever possible.
Talk to you again tomorrow. Hopefully at greater length.
Have a great day everyone.
